Mendocino Sheriff’s Office Press Release
On March 5th, 2012, at approx. 0200 hrs, Sheriff’s Office personnel were dispatched to the Black Bart Casino, located in Laytonville, regarding illegal drug activity.
Upon arrival, deputies were directed to contact security personnel, who advised that they may have seen an individual in the casino participating in the sales of illegal drugs.
Following an investigation, deputies determined that Suspect Frederick Norton and Suspect Gurie Jackson had been observed in a hand to hand transaction involving the purchase of methamphetamine, inside the casino. During a search of Norton, it was determined that Suspect Norton had a small tin container on his person that contained seven individual packets of methamphetamine that was packaged for sales.
Suspect Jackson was issued a citation for being under the influence of a controlled substance, and released. Suspect Norton was placed under arrest and booked into the Mendocino County Jail for possession of a controlled substance for sale, being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently being held on $25,000 bail..
