Benicia police on Thursday arrested a Vallejo man who is suspected of robbing a Wells Fargo Bank in the city a year ago. Ronald Whitlow, 49, was arrested without resistance at his home in the 100 block of Rounds Street in Vallejo around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, police Sgt. Scott Przekurat said. Whitlow was booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of bank robbery and for violating his probation in Napa County for theft, Przekurat said.
The male bank robbery suspect gave a demand note to a teller in the bank at 892 Southampton Road in the Raley’s supermarket around 11:30 a.m. on March 15, 2011, police said. The teller handed the robber cash and the robber was last seen calmly walking out of the store, police said. Police released photos of the suspect taken by a bank surveillance camera. Detectives Kevin Rose and Gregg Rouse identified Whitlow after a lengthy investigation, Przekurat said. Vallejo police and the FBI assisted with the arrest.
