* Kelly Surrell shot and killed in Oakland on Bancroft Avenue

Oakland police have identified Kelly Giles Surrell II as the victim of a fatal shooting Monday that led to a car crash. The 34-year-old Oakland man was driving on Bancroft Avenue when he was shot multiple times, lost control and collided head-on with another vehicle containing two adults and two children, ages 4 and 8, police said. Officers responded to the shooting in the 8600 block of Bancroft Avenue in East Oakland at 6:22 p.m. The two children were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, police said. Surrell also was transported to a local hospital, where he died.
