A rash of thefts from unlocked cars occurred between Monday night and Tuesday morning in unincorporated Montara on the San Mateo County coast, county emergency officials said. Between 5:30 p.m. Monday and 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, thefts were reported around the upper East Avenue area. Small electronics and other items were taken from inside closed compartments of unlocked vehicles, emergency officials said.

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office has issued a reminder for residents to keep cars locked and avoid leaving valuables in their vehicles. Anyone who notices a suspicious person should take down a full description and any other details, such as associated vehicles and license plate numbers, and then call the sheriff’s patrol dispatch at (650)363-4911.
