* South San Francisco man was assaulted and robbed of his wallet on Ponderosa Road

A 28-year-old South San Francisco man was assaulted and robbed of his wallet while walking in South San Francisco Sunday night, police said. The man was walking eastbound in the 300 block of Ponderosa Road toward El Camino Real when he noticed a white cargo van drive by him and come to and abrupt stop sometime between 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., according to police.

As the man continued walking past the van just before reaching the Alida Way intersection, he was attacked by an unknown number of suspects. He was struck in the face by an unknown object and knocked unconscious, police said.The suspects stole the victim’s wallet and fled the area in the van.Police said the man suffered injuries not considered life-threatening. His wallet contained an undisclosed amount of cash and the victim’s personal information.Police are investigating the robbery.
