Police arrested a man suspected of trying to hide methamphetamine by crushing it with his foot while driving during a traffic stop in Santa Cruz on Friday, police said. A Santa Cruz police officer attempted to stop a vehicle near Ocean Street and Broadway at 3:09 p.m. The vehicle did not stop, but after a short chase at minimal speed, pulled over near the corner of East Cliff Drive and Mott Avenue.
Police said that the driver, 30-year-old Tristan Pardee, was attempting to crush suspected methamphetamine with his foot in the car. Police arrested Pardee and found 6.1 grams of suspected methamphetamine in his car as well as a stolen laptop, police said. Pardee was already on bail for an arrest on Feb. 1 for possession of suspected methamphetamine, heroin and prescription medication.
Pardee arrested for transportation of suspected methamphetamine, for driving under the influence, possession of stolen property, destruction of evidence, probation violation, and committing a felony while on bail.He was booked into Santa Cruz County jail.
