On Wednesday, 2/15/12 at approximately 2:28 am, San Mateo County Public Safety Communications received a 9-1-1 call from a resident in the 300 Block of San Carlos Ave. in the West Selby Ln. area of unincorporated Redwood City. The caller reported a man who was bleeding, was pounding on his front door. Sheriff’s Deputies responded and located a 24 year old man who had been shot in the head. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover from his injury.
Approximately 45 minutes after the shooting, a Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a suspicious vehicle in the area. The vehicle contained three persons who were identified as potential suspects. Two of the suspects were arrested for their involvement in the shooting. The third occupant of the vehicle was determined to be uninvolved in the shooting and was released. Further investigation into the circumstances and motive for the shooting are underway.
The location of this incident is an otherwise quiet, low crime, residential area. At this point, we have determined that the shooting was not random and residents of the area should not be unduly concerned about their safety. The suspects and victim are known to each other and do not live in the neighborhood where the shooting took place.
