Three suspects charged with the murder of a 21-year-old Concord woman pleaded not guilty in Contra Costa County Superior Court Tuesday morning, a prosecutor said.
Concord residents Donald Waldecker, 23, and Jonathan Harriel, 17, and 20-year-old Randi Dees, of Richmond, entered the pleas in a Martinez courtroom in connection with the October slaying of Shelby Barnes, a Benicia native who had been living in her family’s vacant home in Concord, according to Deputy District Attorney Jason Peck.
Police found Barnes’ body inside the home in the 2900 block of Glenside Court on Oct. 27 during a security check of the property.
Further investigation led detectives to Waldecker, Dees and Harriel, who is being tried as an adult. The trio is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 23 to set a future court date
