The Solano County coroner’s office has identified the man who was fatally shot on Hayes Street late Wednesday night as 20-year-old Jesus Adrian Amaya of Fairfield.Amaya died of a single contact gunshot wound to the head and neck and was pronounced dead at 12:32 a.m. today, coroner’s Deputy Jackson Harris said. Police received a call around 11:55 p.m. Wednesday about shots fired in the area of Utah and Hayes streets, Sgt. Jeff Osgood said.
As officers were responding, police received another call from a resident in the 1000 block of Hayes Street about a shooting victim who needed medical assistance, Osgood said.Police found the shooting victim unconscious in the front yard of a home.He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, Osgood said.The Police Department’s gang and major crimes units are investigating whether the murder is gang-related, Osgood said. It was the second homicide in Solano County in two days.
Dorian Walls, 38, of Vallejo, died of multiple gunshot wounds in the driveway of a residence in the 20 block of Reis Avenue in a pocket of unincorporated Solano County within Vallejo city limits Tuesday night.Solano County sheriff’s deputies responded to the shooting around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday. Sheriff’s Lt. Gary Faulkner confirmed this afternoon that Walls’ 1-year-old daughter was present at the shooting scene. The unharmed infant was found in a car seat inside the vehicle Walls was driving and was examined by medical responders at the scene, Faulkner said.
