Oakland police say they have detained a person of interest in a double homicide that happened Friday night. The double homicide was reported at 9:34 p.m. in the 200 block of Athol Avenue, Officer J. Moore said. A man and woman, whose bodies were found inside of a vehicle outside of a home, were pronounced dead at 10:46 p.m.
A concerned employee had called police Friday at about 3:30 p.m. because an employee hadn’t reported to work. Police dispatched officers to a home to conduct a well being check. Nothing appeared suspicious and the officers left. Just after 9:30 p.m., the Police Department received another call regarding the missing employee.
They returned to the home and found the bodies. About 10 minutes prior, another fatal shooting was reported. Police responded to the 800 block of Center Street and found 19-year-old Christian Dixon. He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Police said there is no connection between the incidents.
