An armed man robbed an auto parts store in Santa Cruz on Thursday night, police said. The robbery was reported at 8:07 p.m. at a business in the 1100 block of Water Street. The suspect entered the business wearing a ski mask and demanded money after showing an employee what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun in his waistband, according to police.

The employee handed over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect, who then fled on foot. Officers and a police K-9 responded and searched the area but did not find the robber, police said. The suspect is described as a man of unknown race who is about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a husky build. He was wearing a black ski mask, a black hooded jacket, dark jeans, dark boots, and a black or gray Jansport backpack, according to police. No one was injured during the robbery.
