A gang member was arrested on a weapons charge after a traffic stop Tuesday night, a Santa Rosa police sergeant said Wednesday afternoon. A K-9 officer pulled a vehicle over for an equipment violation on Cleveland Avenue near Russell Avenue in Santa Rosa around 9:10 p.m., Sgt. Rainer Navarro said. The officer smelled marijuana in the vehicle and noticed the driver, 27-year-old Jason Anglero-Wyrick, of Forestville, was wearing clothing and had tattoos specific to a local criminal street gang, Navarro said.
The officer also noticed a pistol grip shotgun partially concealed by clothing on the floorboard of the front passenger compartment, Navarro said.Officers found a small amount of marijuana and more items indicative of gang membership during a search of the vehicle, Navarro said. Anglero-Wyrick was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County jail under $250,000 bail for being an active gang participant in possession of a loaded firearm and committing a felony while out on bail, Navarro said.Anglero-Wyrick was out on bail for a gang-related felony assault, Navarro said.
