An armed man barricaded himself inside an Oakland home with his 3-year-old daughter for hours early this morning before he let the girl go and was taken into custody, police said.Sometime after 1 a.m., police received word of a domestic dispute in the 2900 block of Capp Street, police spokeswoman Johnna Watson said. She said officers learned that the dispute involved a husband and wife, and that the husband was “very angry” and was armed with a weapon and threatening to kill himself.
The wife was able to get two children out of the home, but the man remained inside the residence with the 3-year-old, Watson said. “We do know that he had a gun,” she said.Police communicated with the man, and he eventually released the young girl, Watson said. He then surrendered shortly after 7 a.m., she said. No one was injured, Watson said. It ended very well,” she said. Police have not yet released the man’s name, but Watson said he is in his 30s.
