A 20-year-old man walking under an overpass in unincorporated Redwood City told the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office he was attacked and robbed Tuesday night. Around 9:30 p.m. the victim from San Mateo was walking east on Fifth Avenue underneath the Fifth and Williams avenues overpass when he saw two men standing at the guardrail, sheriff’s officials said.

As he walked past them they began to attack him while tearing two gold necklaces off his neck. The two men then hit the victim over the head with a beer bottle, which knocked him to the ground, according to the sheriff’s office. Both suspects fled north on Williams Avenue on foot. The suspects are described as Hispanic men both standing about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds.

The first suspect is believed to be in his mid-20’s and has pale skin and facial hair under his bottom lip. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans, according to officials. The second suspect is in his early 20’s and was wearing a black baseball cap, two earrings and a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
