An Oakland man is expected to be charged with murder after his mother died on Sunday from injuries she sustained when he allegedly beat her in November, authorities said today. Shinichi Daniel Tessien, 38, initially was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and elder abuse for allegedly attacking his mother, 68-year-old Nobuko Goswami, at her home in the 6000 block of Snake Road in Oakland at about 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 7.  Goswami was first taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland with major head and internal injuries and later was taken to a convalescent hospital in Marin County, where she died on Monday, authorities said.

Alameda County District Attorney spokeswoman Teresa Drenick said her office plans to file an amended complaint charging Tessien with murder, rather than assault, when he appears in Superior Court on Friday to enter a plea.  Tessien is being held in the county jail in lieu of $130,000 bail.
