On November 29, 2011, San Jose police arrested Roberto Jaime Martinez, 29, of San Jose, on suspicion of committing the October 23, 2011 murder of 22-year-old Luis Diaz of San Jose.  Martinez was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of homicide, where he currently remains without bail.

On 10/23/11, at approximately 1:39 A.M., San Jose Police Officers responded to the area of Almaden Avenue and Union Street on a report of a fight.  While officers responded to the fight call, a second call for service came in regarding a male that was calling for help in the 200 block of W. Virginia Street.  Officers responded to that location and located a male that had been stabbed at least one time.  AMR transported the male to Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 2:33 A.M.  It is believed the two calls are related.  The motive behind the stabbing remains under investigation.

No suspects have been identified or apprehended in this case.

This marks San Jose’s 37th homicide of the year (18th gang-related homicide of the year).
