* Julio Armendariz Stabbed and Beaten with Baseball Bats in Watsonville

A Watsonville man was stabbed repeatedly and beaten with baseball bats by a group of suspects shortly before 2 a.m. today in Pajaro, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.  Callers reported seeing a fight involving five suspects on Porter Road near Salinas Road shortly before 2 a.m. Witnesses said baseball bats were being used to beat the victim.

Deputies arriving on the scene found Watsonville resident Julio Armendariz with multiple stab wounds to his head, arms and waist.  Armendariz, whose injuries are considered life threatening, has refused to cooperate with investigators, officials said. He has been taken to a trauma center for treatment.
