A special education teacher at an Antioch high school has been charged in the state of Pennsylvania with sex crimes involving a minor, authorities said today.Walnut Creek resident Nicholas Errett has been charged with multiple sexual crimes including statutory sexual assault, indecent assault and unlawful contact with a minor, according to Pennsylvania state police.
Prosecutors were not immediately available Thursday to confirm the charges. The teacher allegedly sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl — who is now 20 years old — in that state between 2006 and 2007, police said. Errett is a special education teacher at Bidwell High School, said Antioch Unified School District Superintendent Donald Gill.
Gill said he notified Bidwell High parents of the charges yesterday after hearing from police in Pennsylvania. The superintendent said Errett has been removed from his teaching duties and placed on administrative leave as police investigate the case. Police in Pennsylvania said they have issued an arrest warrant for Errett and are making arrangements for him to turn himself in.
