Police in Watsonville are trying to determine what led to astabbing outside a bar on Saturday night. Officers responded to a report of a fight involving several males with knives outside the Wooden Nickel Bar and Grill on Freedom Boulevard at about 10:10 p.m., Watsonville police said. Arriving officers found one bar employee who was stabbed in the back, police said. He was airlifted to a trauma center with critical injuries. Another employee suffered a cut to the hand, police said.
Four suspects who were drinking in the bar and were believed to have been involved in the fight fled the scene in a car. Police spotted the vehicle on Loma Prieta Drive and enforced a “high-risk” traffic stop. One of the four suspects had been stabbed in the abdomen, and was airlifted to a trauma center with injuries that were potentially life threatening, police said. The stabbing remains under investigation, and no arrests had been made as of Sunday afternoon.
