A male high school student took an Oakland woman’s cellphone by force Tuesday morning, Oakland police said. Police responded around 7:40 a.m. to the area of 10th and Filbert streets where a woman said a thief had taken her phone and run away.
Officers later found the teen, an Oakland resident, at Oakland Technical High School, located at 4351 Broadway — about 3 miles from where the robbery occurred. He was detained, and the victim positively identified him as the person who had robbed her, police said. The suspect was then taken to the Oakland Police Department where police said he gave a full confession to robbery investigators and was admonished.
