Police in Richmond have identified a man who led officers on a chase in a stolen car early Monday morning as a 27-year-old Antioch resident with a history of auto theft. Maurice Robinson was arrested around 1:30 a.m. Monday after speeding away from police who attempted to pull him over near Harbour Way South and Cutting Boulevard. He led officers on a chase for about a mile and a half on Cutting Boulevard before the car spun out of control, according to police.

There were few other vehicles in the area at the time, and no property was damaged other than the stolen car, police said. Robinson exited the car near John F. Kennedy Park and ran away, but was quickly caught and arrested in the 400 block of South 39th Street, according to police. Richmond police Lt. Bisa French said Robinson was already on probation for a prior car theft conviction. He was booked into jail and remained in custody this morning.
