Police in Richmond arrested a suspect driving a stolen car after a brief chase early this morning, police said. Officers attempted to pull the car over near the corner of Harbour Way South and Cutting Boulevard at 1:25 a.m. The car stopped, but when the officer left his car to approach the suspect, the suspect drove away, and officers followed in pursuit.

Officers chased the car on Cutting Boulevard for about a mile and a half, when the suspect lost control of the car and spun out near the corner South 41st Street. The suspect’s car ended up in nearby John F. Kennedy Park and he exited the vehicle and ran from police. Several officers chased him on foot, and caught up with the man about a block away, in the 400 block of South 39th Street. The 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of car theft, but police have not yet revealed his name.
