A man was arrested after allegedly robbing a woman of her car keys in Oakland on Thursday afternoon, police said. Officers responded at 4:38 p.m. Thursday to a report of several citizens chasing a robbery suspect in the area of 30th and Webster streets. The suspect allegedly approached a female victim from behind as she closed the trunk of her vehicle, then grabbed the keys from her hand, according to police.
The victim tried to get the keys back but the suspect began to assault her. Several citizens witnessed the attack and tried to intervene, leading to the police response. Officers were able to locate and detain a man, an Oakland resident who the victim and witnesses identified as the attacker, police said. The victim suffered only minor injuries as the result of the attack, police said.
