A man fatally shot near Children’s Hospital in Oakland last week has been identified as 23-year-old Charles Butler, a police spokeswoman said today. Butler, an Oakland resident, was injured in a shooting reported at 10:24 a.m. Thursday near 46th and West streets, police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said. Officers responded and found Butler alone in his car.
He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and had crashed into two parked cars, Watson said. Butler’s car then caught fire and firefighters were called to extinguish the blaze. He was taken to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. No arrests had been made and no suspect information was available as of today, Watson said.
