Employees at a Guitar Center music store on Thursday helped El Cerrito police catch three teens suspected of stealing two unique guitars from a home in the city the day before.The burglary was reported at about 5 p.m. Wednesday at a home in the 2600 block of Tassajara Avenue, where a victim arrived home to see two people fleeing from the residence, police said.
One of the suspects was carrying items from the home that included the two guitars, according to police. The Guitar Center store at 10300 San Pablo Ave. in El Cerrito was notified of the theft by the victim, and the following day, three people came into the store to try to sell the guitars, police said. Store employees called police, who arrived to arrest the suspects despite their attempt to flee.
Two of the suspects are juveniles, one of whom was booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of possession of stolen property, conspiracy and first-degree burglary. The second juvenile was booked for possession of stolen property and conspiracy charges, police said. The third suspect, Ahmad Lott, 18, of Richmond, was booked into county jail on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property and conspiracy, according to police.
