Two women were stabbed Thursday night near a Martinez bar and the suspected assailant was arrested after calling police about the stabbing. Officers responded just before 10 p.m. to a fight at Ferry and Main streets. Callers advised there was possibly a stabbing during the fight, police said. After police arrived, two female victims were found in front of the Whiskey Lane bar at 629 Ferry St.

They both had suffered stab wounds to their extremities and were treated at a nearby hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. Shortly after responding to the scene, police dispatchers received a call from a woman who said she was involved in the altercation at Whiskey Lane and requested to speak with an officer. Police determined the caller was responsible in the stabbing.

The suspect, Wendy Michelle, 40, of Martinez, was arrested on two charges of assault with a deadly weapon and booked into county jail, police said.
