* Steven Hardy arrested in Scotts Valley for alleged assault with a deadly weapon at Valley Metro bus center

Police in Scotts Valley arrested a suspect for assault with a deadly weapon on Friday after he allegedly hit a man with a rock during a fight, police said. Officers responded to the Scotts Valley Metro bus center on Kings Village Road at 2:45 p.m.

Witnesses told police two men had been fighting there, and one of the men hit the other man with a rock and slammed his head into the pavement. The suspect fled on foot toward the Kings Village Shopping Center, police said.

Officers located Steven Hardy, 55, outside of a nearby business and police said witnesses identified him as the suspect.Hardy was arrested and booked into Santa Cruz County Jail. The victim was left bleeding and, after treating him at the scene, medical personnel transported him to Dominican Hospital.
