A man was sliced in the hand while trying to defend himself from a robbery at knifepoint in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley neighborhood Tuesday evening, police said. The robbery was reported at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday near Velasco Avenue and Santos Street. The 47-year-old victim was walking from his home to a nearby bus stop when three suspects approached and began walking alongside him, according to police.
Two of them grabbed him while the third took out a knife and began waving it around, police said. When the victim put up his hand to protect himself from the knife, he suffered a minor cut. The suspects took cash from him then fled, according to police. The victim was taken to California Pacific Medical Center’s St. Luke’s campus to be treated for his injury, which did not require stitches, police said. The suspects, three men in their late teens or early 20s, had not been found as of this morning.
