Police apprehended a suspected car burglar after searching a Walnut Creek neighborhood early Saturday. At around 3 a.m., police received a report of an auto burglary near Matisse Court and Monet Circle. The caller told police that a suspect wearing a black jacket and blue jeans and riding a black BMX-style bicycle had broken a car window. Police searched the area, and within minutes saw a man who fit the suspect’s description near North Main Street and the Contra Costa Canal Trail.
As an officer approached the suspect, he fled on the bike. Police continued to search for him with the help of a police dog, and found him in a backyard on Cela Court, where they took him into custody. Officers found the bicycle and stolen property nearby, police said. Police identified the suspect as Chris Yorrie, 38, of Oakland. He was booked into county jail for suspicion of burglary, possession of a controlled substance, and probation violation.
