A student at a Santa Rosa high school was found with a gun in his waistband Thursday, police said. A Ridgeway High School staff member told police that a student was possibly in possession of a firearm in a classroom during school hours, police said. Officers arrived at the high school, located at 1235 Mendocino Ave., and learned that the suspect, 19-year-old Tyler Wilson, of Santa Rosa, was still in a classroom with other students.
Police approached the suspect and handcuffed him. During a search, a loaded small semi-automatic pistol was found in his waistband. Wilson was booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of possession of firearm and possession of a firearm on school grounds and is being held on $125,000 bail, police said.
