The Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting as an adult a 17-year-old suspect in a murder that occurred outside a Santa Rosa restaurant early Saturday morning. Jose Mendoza Campos is being arraigned this afternoon in Sonoma County Superior Court for the fatal shooting of Christopher Medina Ochoa, 23, of Santa Rosa, at the El Puente Cantina at 1709 Santa Rosa Ave.

A second defendant, Daniel Escobido Calderon, 23, of Petaluma, will be arraigned as an alleged accessory to the murder. Campos is also being charged with the attempted murder of Jullian Loeza Jr., 21, of Santa Rosa, who was injured in the 2 a.m. shooting. Santa Rosa police said they recovered a gun at the scene and that several witnesses identified the suspects.

Police said Calderon was arrested when he returned to the restaurant after the shootings, and Campos was arrested nearby on U.S. Highway 101.
