* Check ‘n Go at 3880 S. El Camino Real robbed at gunpoint

Police are investigating an armed robbery at a check-cashing business in San Mateo on Monday morning, police said. The robbery was reported just after 11 a.m. at the Check ‘n Go at 3880 S. El Camino Real, police said. No one was injured in the robbery.

The suspect, described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, was armed with a silver handgun, which he carried in his waistband. He was wearing a plaid shirt over a gray hooded sweatshirt, police said. He fled from the business on foot. No vehicle was seen. Police said he might have been in the area of West 38th Avenue and South El Camino Real just before and after 11 a.m Officers searched the area and could not find the suspect.
