A male arrestee booked at Santa Clara County’s Main Jail Friday night on suspicion of drug-related charges died in custody after going into medical distress shortly after his arrival, according to the sheriff’s office. The arrestee, whose name has not yet been released, was brought to the jail by the Campbell Police Department at about 5:45 p.m. and shortly thereafter experienced a medical emergency.
Jail staff initiated CPR, and the San Jose Fire Department’s assistance was requested, according to the sheriff’s office. The male arrestee was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
