On Saturday, October 15th, 2011, at approximately 7:00 P.M., two armed suspects committed a robbery at the Ben Bridge Jewelers located inside Valley Fair Mall in San Jose. The two suspects entered the store wearing ski masks and carrying handguns. After ordering the employees to the ground, the suspects used sledgehammers to break the glass display cabinets and removed numerous articles of jewelry. The suspects then fled the scene in a stolen vehicle.
The investigation revealed that the suspects were associated to similar jewelry store robberies in San Diego, Palm Desert, and Costa Mesa over a period of several months. The same suspects are also believed to be responsible for a brazen casino robbery in San Diego County.
San Jose Police Robbery Unit detectives ultimately identified the suspects during their investigation. The San Jose Police Department’s Robbery Unit then coordinated with Detectives from the San Diego Police Department, San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to locate the suspects. Both suspects were arrested on November 9th, 2011, in the City of San Diego. Both suspects are currently being held in the San Diego County Jail for robbery charges and parole violations.
