A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing his father in their east Santa Rosa home early this morning, a police sergeant said. The suspect, Houston Herczog, of Santa Rosa, has been booked into Sonoma County Jail for murder, Sgt. Steve Fraga said. Officers were dispatched to a home on Parkhurst Drive home around 1:30 a.m. after a woman called police and said her father was being stabbed by her brother, Fraga said.
Officers found the victim’s daughter in the driveway, and her father, Mark Kevin Herczog, 63, lying on the kitchen floor suffering from stab wounds, Fraga said. Houston Herczog was found in the kitchen area. Emergency medical responders were already standing by, and they gave the elder Herczog first aid at the scene. He was taken to a hospital where he later died. The murder is still under investigation, and anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at (707) 543-3590.
