A Sonoma County man was chased and tied up with shoelaces after he was allegedly caught burglarizing a home on Saturday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office. George Heywood, 34, of Boyes Hot Springs, was allegedly chased out of a home on Calle Del Monte when a resident came home and found him hiding there, according to Sonoma County deputies. The home was in disarray and the owner’s wallet had been taken.
Heywood was chased down the street by the owner, who told neighbors to call 911. He eventually caught up with the alleged burglar and tied his hands behind his back with shoelaces, according to the sheriff’s office. Heywood was handed over to arriving deputies who took him into custody. The victim’s wallet was found in a nearby trashcan.
Heywood, a documented gang member, had been released from prison earlier this month to be supervised locally under the Post-release Community Supervision Program, according to the sheriff’s office. He was booked into Sonoma County Jail where he remains without bail.
