Oakland police have released suspect descriptions for two men connected with Thursday night’s fatal shooting at Frank Ogawa Plaza and authorities are offering a reward for information. Officers responded to 14th Street and Broadway, where the “Occupy Oakland” encampment is located, at 4:57 p.m. and found a man in his 20s suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The man’s name is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.
The first suspect was described as a black man, with short hair, between 20 and 25 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. He was wearing a white T-shirt.
The second suspect was described as a black man, in his 20s or 30s, between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall, and weighing about 250 pounds. He has long dreadlocks with red tips and possibly a tattoo on the back of his neck. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, police said.
