* Woman Arrested for Allegedly Hitting Sleeping Man in The Head with a Hammer

A woman was arrested after allegedly hitting a man in the head with a hammer while he was sleeping in downtown San Francisco early Saturday morning, police said. The attack was reported at about 12:45 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Grant Avenue. The 67-year-old victim was asleep when the woman struck him, according to police. The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for a gash to the head. He is expected to survive. The woman, a 63-year-old whose name was not immediately available, was arrested, police spokesman Sgt. Mike Andraychak said.
