A woman suspected in a hit-and-run collision outside a San Leandro Walmart store last week was arrested after she tried to lock herself in her car and called 911 on officers, police said. Police responded to the Walmart at 15555 Hesperian Blvd. shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a report of a hit-and-run collision.  Witnesses told police that they saw a woman later identified as Crystal Harrison, of Castro Valley, hit the victim’s vehicle with her car, then drive to another location in the parking lot, remove her license plates, and enter the Walmart.

A California Highway Patrol officer approached Harrison inside the Walmart, police said.  San Leandro police also responded, and while they were interviewing Harrison, they learned that her driver’s license was suspended, police said.  When the officers told Harrison her car would be impounded, she allegedly became belligerent and called 911 to report that the officers were stealing her car, according to police.

She later ran to her car and got inside, but before she could lock the door, officers opened it and attempted to remove her from the vehicle, police said. Police said she attempted to kick the officers, and they took her into custody her for resisting arrest.  Officers then searched her car and found a small amount of marijuana inside, according to police.  The marijuana was submitted into evidence, and Harrison was booked into Santa Rita Jail for resisting arrest.
