The Marin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery and a shooting that both occurred on Cole Drive in Marin City over the weekend, a sheriff’s sergeant said. In the robbery, a 17-year-old boy was walking on Cole Drive around 7:20 p.m. Friday when a male suspect demanded his property, Sgt. Craig Scardina said.
The teen continued walking but stopped when the suspect pointed a handgun at him, Scardina said. A second suspect then took the teen’s cellphone, wallet and iPod. Deputies searched the area but did not locate the robber, Scardina said. The teen, who does not live in Marin City, was uninjured.
Sheriff’s deputies returned to Cole Drive around 5 a.m. Saturday in response to a report of shots fired into an apartment. Deputies found that two apartments in the same building had been struck by gunfire but no one was injured, Scardina said. Residents told investigators they did not see the shooter. The two incidents are not related, Scardina said.
