Two teen boys and a 19-year-old man were arrested early Monday morning after a resident in Scotts Valley noticed people rummaging through cars in the neighborhood, Scotts Valley police said. Around 2 a.m. officers were called to the Skypark neighborhood after a resident said someone had gone through their car and that several other cars in the area had interior lights on, according to police.
Three people were seen walking in the neighborhood wearing dark clothing. Officers then found a car leaving the area. The three people inside were stopped, including the driver, identified as Decheng Huang, 19, and his 16- and 14-year-old passengers. All three are from Soquel. Numerous stolen items were found in the car, along with marijuana.
The property was stolen from cars and residences in Scotts Valley and Santa Cruz, police said. The three were arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property; conspiring to commit a crime; prowling and loitering on private property; and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, police said. Huang was booked at the Santa Cruz County Jail. The two boys were booked at the Santa Cruz County Juvenile Probation Division.
