A 29-year-old man was arrested Monday afternoon after a police narcotics unit discovered a marijuana grow house in Santa Rosa, police said. Around 5:30 p.m. detectives from the Santa Rosa Narcotics Investigation Team served a search warrant at a residence on California Street.

During the search, detectives determined the house was being used to grow and distribute marijuana, police said. A search of the house netted over 8 pounds of processed marijuana, items related to the distribution and sale of marijuana, a loaded pistol grip shotgun, ammunition, a small amount of methamphetamine and MDMA and more than $20,000 in cash, police said.

Ben Putnam, of Santa Rosa, was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of marijuana for sale and cultivation, violation of probation, possession of methamphetamine and MDMA and being armed while dealing narcotics, police said. Putnam was booked at the Sonoma County Jail.
