The San Jose Police Department’s Robbery Unit is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who shot a store patron while committing an armed robbery. On 9/30/2011, San Jose Police Officers responded to the Rancho Market located in the 500 block of N. 17th Street on a report of an armed robbery. Upon their arrival, officers contacted the store clerk and a patron. Officers determined that the patron had been shot. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he remains under treatment.
Preliminary investigation into the shooting revealed that the suspect entered the store and fired at least one round striking the patron. The suspect then demanded money from the clerk. The clerk gave the suspect an undisclosed quantity of cash. The suspect fled the scene on foot and remains at-large.
The San Jose Police Department has worked with the shooting victim to generate a composite sketch of the suspect’s face. The Police Department is releasing this sketch in the hopes that a member of the community will come forward with information regarding the suspect’s identity.
