Two responding officers, Officers Bachmann and Wilson, engaged the suspect (who allegedly raised his newly acquired firearm in the direction of the officers) and fired multiple rounds at him.  The suspect, who was not hit, continued to flee southbound on foot towards an elementary school that was in session.
Officer McMullen then re-entered his patrol car and began driving in the direction of the fleeing suspect.  In order to apprehend the fleeing armed suspect the officer struck him with his vehicle.  The suspect was then immediately taken into custody and transported to Valley Medical Center for treatment of injuries.  Officer McMullen was also transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for injuries he sustained during the initial fight with the suspect.  Officer McMullen has since been released from the hospital.  The suspect remains hosptialized.
All three officers have been placed on routine paid administrative leave.  Upon being treated for his injuries, the suspect will be booked for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
