Police in Oakland called off a search for a suspect in a robbery and shooting that left one person injured and led to a search that closed down a freeway this afternoon. The shooting occurred in the 4000 block of MacArthur Boulevard at around 2 p.m., police said. No arrests have been made and the victim is being treated at a hospital this evening, according to police.
A search for the suspect shut down westbound lanes of Interstate Highway 580 near the MacArthur Boulevard exit for more than two hours this afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol. The roadway was closed shortly after 3 p.m., with traffic diverted at that location until the roadway reopened at 5:15 p.m., according to the CHP. Oakland police asked for the CHP to close the freeway after the suspect abandoned a car on the road and fled on foot, Oakland-area CHP Officer Sam Morgan said.
