* Francisca Galvan Bolanos identified a 77-year-old woman who was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Salinas

The Monterey County coroner’s office has identified a 77-year-old woman who was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Salinas on Saturday night as Francisca Galvan Bolanos. Bolanos, a Salinas resident, was crossing the street at Main Street and Bernal Drive around 7:50 p.m. at when she was struck by a full-size cargo van, police said.

She suffered major injuries and later died at a hospital. The driver of the van fled the scene and was last seen driving east on Bernal Drive, police said. Witnesses to the crash described the van as a white, late 1980s to early 1990s-model full-size Chevrolet or Ford cargo van with ladder racks on the roof.The vehicle’s bumper, hood and possibly windshield were damaged. Police are asking anyone with information about the hit-and-run to contact the Salinas Police Department at (831) 758-7250.
