A Hayward man was killed and his wife injured this morning in a mysterious double shooting in front of their home, police said today. Police were called to a home on the 100 block of Saint Andrews Street just before 8 a.m. today on a report of shots fired, said police Lt. Roger Keener.

A 65-year-old man who lived at the address was found laying in the driveway of his home with multiple gunshot wounds, and was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, a 59-year-old woman, was also shot, and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Her injuries were listed as serious but not life threatening.

The shooter or shooters escaped the area before police arrived, and police remained unclear on the motive for the shooting as of this evening.
