Oakland police have identified the victims in a shooting that left one person dead after he was both shot and run over Saturday afternoon. Officers responding to a reported shooting in a parking lot at 5701 Foothill Boulevard Saturday just before 4:30 p.m. found Waleed Wheatfall, 35, and Kenneth Robinson, 39, on the ground, police said today.
Both men were suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators learned a suspect approached the two men, both of whom are Oakland residents, in the parking lot and fired at them without warning before fleeing south on 57th Avenue.
Wheatfall fell to the ground after the shooting and was accidentally run over by a witness who was attempting to flee the scene. Medical personnel declared him dead at the scene. Robinson was taken to a hospital for treatment, and remains in critical condition.
No one has been arrested in connection with the murder, police said. The motive and suspect information remain unknown, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Major Crimes Section of the Oakland Police Department.
