The suspect in yesterday’s armed robbery/shooting, carjacking, kidnapping, and an officer-involved shooting has been identified as Paul Ray Castillo, 33, of San Jose. He was last seen wearing a white and/or red shirt and dark-colored pants and is described as Hispanic, 5’9″, 210 lbs., with black hair, brown eyes, and thin mustache.
Castillo is also a parolee-at-large and is considered armed and dangerous. A no-bail Ramey warrant has been issued for Castillo’s arrest in connection with these crimes. He is also wanted on a no-bail hold from the California Department of Corrections for violating the terms and conditions of his parole.Detectives have learned that Castillo has a propensity for violence and is extremely dangerous. Anyone coming into contact with Castillo should call 9-1-1 immediately.
SJPD robbery detectives are currently working the case. Multiple SJPD Special Operations Units conducted an exhaustive 11-hour search of the area where the suspect was last scene. The suspect was not located and the grid search was terminated at approximately 5:00 AM this morning.
The kidnap victim has been identified as Cindy Nguyen, 60, of Campbell. The whereabouts of the suspect and the victim are not known at this time. The victim’s vehicle, a white, 1997 Lexus, was recovered at the scene of the officer-involved shooting last night.
