A Livermore man was arrested after officers found three explosive devices during a probation search Saturday morning, police said. Officers arrived at apartment No. 209 at 5810 East Avenue to serve an arrest warrant to Gabriel Douglas, 31, and to execute a probation search warrant around 8 a.m., Livermore police said.
During the search, officers found three explosive devices — two wrapped sticks of gunpowder with fuses and a water bottle containing gunpowder and a fuse. The immediate area was evacuated and the Alameda County Explosive Ordinance Disposal unit responded to secure the explosives, police said. After the devices were secured, residents were permitted to reenter their homes.
Douglas allegedly admitted to possessing the explosives, police said. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a destructive device, a probation violation and an arrest warrant. Douglas was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
